Unleashing the talent potential in Amsterdam Southeast. Changing the outlook for talented citizens in Amsterdam Southeast by training them to become the IT specialist today to position them to build a strong future for themselves and their families.
The story is about giving talented citizens fro Amsterdam Southeast the opportunity to become a 'Tekkie' - IT tech specialist by offering an unconventional fast-track route of training. Together with Techgrounds foundation the project has been initiated to pilot this new fast track route. The project originated from the āKansen voor Westā program: Tech entrepreneurship and digital skills for poor neighborhoods. The economy of the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area (MRA) is booming and unemployment is at its lowest point in 17 years. Yet despite the booming economy, there is much work to be done. Too many people are still on the sidelines. Very specific to the MRA is, that on the one hand there is a great shortage of (tech) talent and at the same time the labour market is insufficiently diverse. The Amsterdam Economic Board has therefore set up TechGrounds. TechGrounds brings tech entrepreneurship and digital skills to underprivileged communities and neighborhoods in the Netherlands. Ultimately, it should ensure that tech truly belongs to everyone.
As a project partner the Johan Cruijff ArenA is driven by its ambition to help talent in Amsterdam Southeast to create a successful future for themselves and their families: "Our stadium, should be a place to support your learningā and inspire to engage training to become an IT specialist,Ā one that is going to shake the world of tomorrow. If so, Techgrounds would like to get to know you! Because there is an urgent need educate more specialist to help build the city and businesses of the future and drive prosperity for the citizens of Amsterdam Southeast.
