About CitiesDAO

There
is a new way to make cities better by creating more impact on the local, neighbourhood, or borough level, which is called CRSD at the EU level, or ESG in the financial world. The city of Amsterdam is developing a demo to show how such new collaborations can take place in a participatory and transparent way, connecting stories to measurement and back to stories again. Most cities in the EU and most of the boroughs of major cities are 120 000. This experiment is also an opportunity for smaller towns and regions. In a self-organized way, we facilitate public, private, and civic entities finding each other, forming new relations, and making cities better. The objective for private companies is to receive assessed social impact for the ESG rating. What we do in citiesDAO:

We
provide a platform to match stories of public, private, and civic sectors

We
 facilitate collaborations between different partners

We
 measure the impact of collaboration

We
certify a contribution to the impact of companies

We
tell new stories on the platform

The
city assesses the impact based on Masterplan Zuidoost. Master plan has three areas of social impact, namely Youth, Safety, and Liveability. Next, it has five ambitions (each has a measurable societal effect).

Residents
of ZO are accepted and respected citizens of Amsterdam

Growing
up in ZO you are safe and well

Growing
up in ZO means you have opportunities to develop your talent

ZO
is proud to be an economic top location; its entrepreneurship, creativity and reciprocity with work opportunities for residents of ZO

ZO
 has transparent and effective governance

The
city is going to prioritize areas of impact (in this case mp ZO) and, on this basis, decides to distribute “social points” for specific impact activities. Rating agencies and accountancies, as well as local government and social-cultural initiatives, can check what happened since the blockchain saves the history of activities in an immutable way.

People
in the borough, neighbourhood, and private companies tell stories, vote to prioritize what they want to happen, and align in collaboration. Second, they all vote during the process on the quality of collaboration and participate in the final assessment of the achieved social impact. The history of the project is saved on the blockchain, including votes for proposals, collaboration agreements, assessments, validation, and a certificate. The blockchain layer of citiesDAO provides a transparent and immutable history of events. Everyone can access the project on blockchain to check the project history, which facilitates trust between all stakeholders.
