Assessment
organisations and initiatives that want to add their stories to citiesDAO platform, should undergo assessment by external organisations that assess their credibility and socio-ecological scores.
Arrested information
information which cannot be changed because it is saved on blockchain. After that, any changes to it on citiesDAO are impossible, and would be recognised as falsification.
Blockchain
a digital database containing information (such as records of voting) that can be simultaneously used and shared within a large publicly accessible network of users. Blockchain records are saved not in one place but on devices of participants. Thanks to that, saved information cannot be falsified or lost which increases transparency and trust between participants.
Civic sector
the realm of social activity undertaken by organizations that are non-governmental nonprofit organizations. This sector is also called voluntary, community sector, and nonprofit sector, in contrast to the public sector and the private sector.

Climate justice
Climate Justice is typically viewed in a global context of spatial and temporal interdependence and recognises that the most vulnerable and poorest in society often suffer the greatest impact of the effects of climate change, despite these people being the least responsible for the emissions that have driven the climate crisis. Climate Justice recognises the need to consider the fairness of the often disproportionate impact of climate change on citizens and communities

Collaboration
An agreement between a socio-cultural initiative and a private company to work together on achieving objectives stated in a template of a collaboration agreement.

People that are directly involved in the realization of collaboration agreements.
Constitution
In the context of DAO, a constitution refers to a set of rules, protocols, and governance principles that dictate how the DAO operates. This digital constitution outlines the DAO's purpose, decision-making processes, voting mechanisms, membership criteria, and other essential parameters.
CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive)
Ensures that investors and other stakeholders have access to the information they need to assess the impact of companies on people and the environment and for investors to assess financial risks and opportunities arising from climate change and other sustainability issues. Finally, reporting costs will be reduced for companies over the medium to long term by harmonising the information to be provided. The revised version of the EU regulation NFRD. DAO
A decentralized autonomous organization (DAO), an organization managed in whole or in part by decentralized computer program, with voting and finances handled through a blockchain. DAOs are member-owned communities without centralized leadership (Decentralized autonomous organization - Wikipedia).

ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance)

ESG Certificate
A certificate issued by an ESG Hub for a private company that finished collaboration and was evaluated successfully.
ESG Hub
Facilitates organizations involved in citiesDAO of a specific city. It moderates and edit templates, check stories’ adherence to city-specific urban development objectives, and steward collaborations between civic, public, and private sectors.

EU-Taxonomy
Classification system of environmentally sustainable economic activities.
GRI (Global Reporting Initiative)
Independent, international organization that sets guidelines for sustainability reporting.
Green Deal - Overarching EU strategy
A set of policy initiatives to help the EU with the green transition, with the ultimate goal of climate neutrality by 2050 (Europa.nu) Ideal city.
Inner Development Goals (IDGs)
A non-profit organization for inner development. The IDGs will provide an essential framework of transformative skills for sustainable development, a field-kit (in co-creation now) on how to develop these necessary skills - open source and free for all to use. (Inner Development Goals).
Laws
Rules written by a government that everyone in a society must follow. They are designed to maintain order, protect individuals and property, and ensure justice.
Locality>
A geographical entity that can vary in size. It can be a region, a city, a city district, a neighbourhood, or a street.
Matching
A process during which initiatives from civil, public, and/or private sector finding a good potential collaborators via citiesDAO platform.
Mentor
Stories and collaborations have mentors appointed by ESG Hubs.
Monitoring
A process of checking the project’s progress by participants. Monitoring happens regularly and performed via participants’mobiule phones by answering simple questions, for instance “How do you feel about the project progress? (good/okay/bad”), and “Does the project moved further? (yes / a bit /no)”. Apart from questions, participants can attach photos that demonstrate the progress. All parameters of the monitoring are set in the constitutions, for example frequency, questions, requirements of photo attachments.
Narrative
A text produced at the end of collaboration after the final assessment. Apart from a story of the result of the collaboration, includes votings, assessment, and an ESG certificate.
NFRD (Non-Financial Reporting Directive)
Predecessor of CSRD.
Private sector
A general term for those aspects of the economy that function by means of the purchase and sale of goods and services to generate the income required for subsistence (or better than mere subsistence), as contrasted with the public sector, which requires financial support from collective, i.e., government, resources (Private sector - Oxford Reference).
Proposal
A project just added to the citiesDAO platform first undergoes the proposal phase during which it can be voted for. If it collects a sufficient amount of votes during a certain timespan (both set by a ESG Hub), it moves to the next phase, matching.
Public sector
The central, local, municipal, and state-owned companies within a country, i.e. that which belongs to the state or the community (Public sector - Oxford Reference).
Regulations
Rules made by governmental agencies to explain and enforce the details of laws. They provide specific guidelines on how laws should be followed and implemented. Semantic web - a way of organizing online information with linked in a meaningful way, allowing computers and humans to process and use information more effectively.
Socio-technical system
A complex system that considers requirements spanning hardware, software, personal, and community aspects. It applies an understanding of the social structures, roles and rights to inform the design of systems that involve communities of people and technology (What are Socio-Technical Systems? | IxDF (interaction-design.org)).
Social/Cultural/Community initiatives
Group efforts to make changes in society, culture, or local communities. They often address such fundamental needs as education, healthcare, and community well-being, aiming to create a better and more connected world.
Social impact
Positive difference or improvement in people's lives and communities resulting from actions or projects. It focuses on making the world better by addressing issues like poverty, inequality, and overall well-being.
SFRD (Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation)
A European regulation with the aim of providing more transparency on how financial parties incorporate sustainability risks and opportunities into their investment decisions (semmie.nl).
Story
A text with media materials, such as photos and videos, explaining in the plain text what an organization wants to achieve with the help of citiesDAO platform. Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFRD).
TCFD (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures)
Founded to help companies understand how climate change could affect their business. In other words a checklist for sustainable business (eevery.co).
Template
A set of variables setting ESG goals of organization or collaboration agreement. Template is based on two theories: YUTPA framework, and the Theory of Change.
Theory of Change (ToC)
ToC of a project describes why change is needed and how it will happen. In simple terms, this involves identifying how you would like the current situation related to an identified problem to change, and how you think you can help that change to come about through your project. (What is a theory of change? - tools4dev). Components of the ToC are input, output, outcome, impact. Inputs are resources invested in a project. Outputs are the tangible or intangible entities that a project produces. Outcomes are the short to medium effects which need to occur in order to achieve a long term or ultimate goal. Impact is a long term goal or ultimate objective (Definition of Output, Outcome and Impact with Examples - Analytics in Action).
Voters
People that will be impacted by the changes brought by an ESG project and related to a locality of a proposal (for instance, street, or neighbourhood). As these potentially affected, they can vote for proposal, by that helping it to come to the matching phase.
Voting
A process of evaluation of project progress by collaborators and/or voters. The results are saved on the blockchain.
YUTPA
An acronym for “being with You in Unity of Time, Place and Action”. YUTPA is a framework developed by prof. dr. Caroline Nevejan for design of trust, which she defines as “time and space configuration in which one meets with others in action” (YUTPA framework — Being-Here).
