About the EGK Centre
The EGK Centre provides the West African community in Southeast with necessary knowledge about the energy transition. The EGK Centre aims to be a knowledge-sharing hub for the most hard-to-reach group in Amsterdam Southeast and plays a connecting role where various stakeholders (especially West Africans) can meet and exchange information.
In addition to information exchange, the center will create jobs for people with diverse backgrounds, promote policy plans in various groups that are not normally accessible, and inform stakeholders about anything related to or conducive to these goals.
The EGK Centre seeks to achieve its goal through:
- Creating sustainable jobs, including (technical) language education.
- Giving visibility to the energy transition for the West African community by providing an average of one to two presentations/workshops per month on this topic.
- Guiding and advising the West African community, other neighbors, and stakeholders on their financial matters through workshops and information sessions.
- Reducing energy poverty by advising and encouraging the target group on the importance of energy-saving changes through training and workshops.
- Generating a platform for the municipality to communicate, send, and receive information from residents.
- Being a center accessible to all people with different education, backgrounds, income, and cultural backgrounds.
