Konstantina's research derive from Just Prepare's research into into how procedural (in)justice manifests itself in energy transition processes, how are residents involved in designing or implementing policy, and what problems do they experience in doing so.
She will elaborate on the manifestation of procedural justice in planning and policy- making processes during the energy transitions in Southeast Amsterdam. She will also question issues of equal participation and contemplate ways that enable the inclusion of the area's vulnerable residents in the decision-making and implementation of the energy transitions, from an early stage.
Konstantina Karalaiou will investigate the level of participation of vulnerable residents in urban planning, and policy-making in energy transitions. She will do so by elaborating on the potentials of participation in the decision-making of the WARM AMSTERDAM initiative for the energy transition of the housing capacity in Southeast Amsterdam.
Her case study will focus on the buildings of Hakfoort & Huigenbos. For the data collection, she will approach engaged actors, stakeholders, and residents, through discussions, meetings, and surveys. In this way, she will gain insights into the occurring processes, and propose tools, and mechanisms that adapt to the specific context, and enable the participation of vulnerable/low-income residents.
Her research will take place from March 2024 to Juli 2024. Â Konstantina is looking for residents to interview and talk to from Hakfoort en Huigenbos. Please see the impact framework.
