Insights in multiple facets of energy poverty in Zuidoost - Luuk Tesselaar (WUR)

Luuk is a WUR student who is researching energy poverty in Amsterdam, as an energy coach. He contributes to ELZO’s manifesto by visiting residents in their homes, and helping them by providing them with energy advice and applying radiator foil, and so on. Simultaniously, he collects data for his own research and that of Joe (a PHD researcher).

His current research question is: “ How can energy poverty in Amsterdam Zuidoost be effectively addressed, considering its multifaceted dimensions, drivers, impacts on residents’ lives, and residents’ expectations?”

Impact template

Category Activity Participants Place Time
Livability Learning All residents Test Neighbourhood Short term
Input What will participants do?

The method I use is based on energy coaching itself: I will visit the homes of residents, offer a Quick Fix (providing them with energy tips and applying radiator foil).

Output What will happen?

The radiatorfoil is applied and the home will be measured again after a while. I expect the energy bill to go down.

Outcome What will change?

I expect a change in the existing knowledge regarding this topic. I hope to fill a knowledge gap, and to give advice and create new policies with my research results.

Impact What will be learned?

I expect to learn more about how to influence people's energy behaviour in a positive way.
