The Wijktransitiehub of residentsplatform Hart voor de K-buurt focuses on energy poverty and sustainability, but is also available for providing the residents information about other subjects (e.g. birth control). The Wijktransitiehub started in january 2023 in a small room in community center ‘de Bonte Kraai’.
What
Resident organization ‘Hart voor de K-buurt’ started the initiative to make the area around metro station Kraainnest more attractive. They want to do this by realising a container village starting with a Wijktransitiehub. The main goal is to improve the liveability and social safety of the area around the metro station by creating liveliness. The specific focus of the container village is to stimulate talent development and local entrepreneurship by providing business space for a small price. The Wijktransitiehub is mainly focused on energy poverty and sustainability, but is also available for providing the residents information about other subjects (e.g. birth control). The Wijktransitiehub started in january 2023 in a small room in community center ‘de Bonte Kraai’.Â
Engineering company RHDHV supports, for their social return obligation of the Municipality, the inhabitants with engineering services (e.g. utility connection, permits, location drawings, soil investigation) by realising a paviljon. Company ServiceNow funds, from their ESG ambition, the paviljon and helps with vollenteers from their company building it. Foundation Hart for the K-buurt bought with the funding of ServiceNow a paviljon from the Floriade Almere. The paviljon is completely circular and rotates with the sun which ensures that the solar panels generate 30 percent more electricity.
Where
The pavilion will be built on the square near the metro station and in front of community center ‘de Bonte Kraai’. The location is indicated with the yellow circle.Â
Why
The idea for the container village and Wijktransitiehub comes from resident organization ‘ Hart voor de K-buurt’. The plans are thus made in cocreation with the residents which contributes to
the social cohesion. Building a container village creates more liveness in the area which contributes to more social safety. Furthermore, Wijktransitiehub has the mission to reduce energy poverty and improve the sustainability in the neighborhood. The hub is also committed to improve the future of the young residents by providing interesting activities in collaboration with (local) businesses and help them with finding an internship.
Who
The users of the container village will be different groups and individuals depending on the kind of business and entrepreneurs that use the containers. However, the primary users of the village will be the local entrepreneurs/businesses and their clients, the volunteers of ‘de Bonte Kraai’ and ‘Wijktransitiehub’, and the residents of the neighborhood. In the field of sustainability Hart voor de K-buurt also works together with CoForce and cooperation Groene Hub. The pavilion of the Wijktransitiehub could therefore also be opened for them. In addition, an important aim is to also attract young people by providing interesting activities and having a building with a modern appearance. Â
