Shaping our childrenā€™s future to grow a liveable smart cities is about creating digital empowered citizens together with all stakeholders, partners and talents of today.

Every person of every age can be empowered through Training and Education. Inspired by the experience the Johan Cruijff ArenA is determined to continue building further events like the epic event "We Make The City Junior" hackathon back in 2018. About 500 children between the ages of 8 and 12 from Amsterdam Southeast were challenged to completely redesign their own district with Minecraft in the middle of the pitch in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. In Minecraft everything is possible, everything is allowed, without limits, without restrictionsšŸ˜‰. And with a exciting experience created by a DJ and a surprise performance by a well-known artist the festival ignited a new paradigm to seriously involve young talents in helping to create our future cities.

On Saturday morning, June 23, 2018, 'We make the City Junior' was born. With 500 children from groups 6, 7 and 8 primary school embarked on an inspiring challenge. Asked to be creative and deliver meaningful new perspectives on building future Southeast urban environments with the aid of Minecraft tooling. The children were given the opportunity to work in a digital way to shape their vision of the future Amsterdam Southeast place for inclusive, sustainable and safe living. This epic event was brought into reality in close cooperation with the Amsterdam Southeast District developers, the FutureNL Foundation and Microsoft.

The FutureNL Foundation together with the Johan Cruijff ArenA mobilized 500 children, with their teachers and parents from Amsterdam Southeast District to come to the ArenA, and design a sustainable and liveable 'Hoekenrodeplein' in Minecraft to bring forward new perspectives to the area, while also enjoying performances of Vinchenzo and Keizer.

With the incentive that the designs are reviewed by the district officials to explore possible application in the real square it states that the young talents of the city can have interesting inputs to the development of urban environments in cities. Thanks to all the kids who worked very hard at the centre spot of the pitch in the Johan Cruijff ArenA, it is the start of an new paradigm focuses on bringing young talents to contribute a brighter, inclusive and sustainable future in districts.Ā This initiative is part of the Johan Cruijff ArenA strategy to seek pathways to empower our young talents to design an inclusive liveable and sustainable cities. Tother with its partners the Johan Cruijff ArenA will built new events to show that digital skills are super cool and useful. And make this initiative a model for all cities. It will require the help of many sponsors, teachers, parents and city officials, to enable all needed actions and effort. But is will be very rewarding to make todays talents as the citizens of the future design a more inclusive, sustainable and prosperous world.
