A place to develop talents

An ongoing orchestration of learning, coaching and working with our talented youth bringing forth a bright future for Amsterdam Southeast. This initiative focusses on a plan for Young Amsterdam Southeast with the motto 'Build your future'. It follows the principle of equity of opportunity and is based on the vision that there is enough space for everyone's talent.

A the municipality Amsterdam has pointed out, one of the main challenges is how to make Amsterdam a just city for all. In the Amsterdam housing market, more and more groups are being squeezed out. Only a lot of luck or a lot of money will get you in. In a just city, we ensure that low and middle income groups can also find a home. In a just city, everyone has the same opportunities, regardless of the neighborhood they live in or the school they attend. There, everyone has the freedom to shape her or his own future. Where the sum of individual choices leads to a collective problem, we provide collective solutions instead of addressing the individual. This premise calls for a government that ensures that investments are made in neighborhoods and schools that need them most, and it calls for increased efforts to help and keep people out of poverty and debt. However, it also means fighting rising inequality. Not only is the gap in income widening, but inequality in health, in job opportunity, and in appreciation of degrees is increasing. We are going to look at economic progress in a different way. In fighting inequality, we put well-being above all else, in addition to prosperity.

With the 'Kavel16' initiative the Johan Cruijff ArenA is committed to help shape its future building to accomodate a palce for the training and education of young talents of its neghbourhood - Amsterdam Southeast District.

Together with partners and stakeholders the ArenA is set to continue to deliver impactful contributions as part of the Amsterdam metropolitan region and to create opportunities for everyone. Now and for generations to come, a colorful area that makes you happy." We do this "by Design," with validated insights, obtained from data, models and experiments, that allow the impact of area development plans to be evaluated in advance.
Furthermore, we do this by involving everyone. By teaching, training young and old to be ready for the future. To learn to create opportunities and to capitalize on them. With a heart for the environment and with care for the other residents. By training and coaching and developing both hard and especially the soft skills. Live in Southeast within jointly created living environments, the Living Labs in Southeast.
In the area we craft the elaborated ideas, concepts and solutions onto the Living Labs including our venue's future building 'Kavel16', which has already been conceived to accomodate places to educations. With the committment to the initiative as the nucleus of young talent development with the deployment of its resources and strengths, the ArenA believes it can contribute to optimally facilitate and support the city's ambition to beome a just city.

So we inderstand that together we need to get our emerging talent in shape now. And prepare them to fully live the new paradigms of sustainable, inclusive societies, as proficient citizens of the future liveable smart cities to achieve more!
